The Extension Needs to Be Set Up

  1. Please, pin the icon to the toolbar
  2. Play a video, and press pause
  3. Click the icon to open the settings
  4. Adjust the sliders

What Does Each Slider Do?

Add only a little of any effect. Too much of one filter will ruin the result. Combining small amounts of multiple filters will amount to a sharpened video.

After sharpening by using the first 3 sliders, recover detail in overly bright or dark areas of the video with the next 3 sliders.

Apply more sharpening and less noise reduction on higher quality videos.
A lot of sharpening on low resolution videos will create too many artifacts - distortion.

With the last slider - make colors pop with vibrant saturation, or tone them down for a more subtle and cinematic look.

  • Outline: Bring out textures, edges, and fine details that were previously lost in blurriness. Improves sharpness by adding white lines where dark and bright pixels meet.
  • Detail: See every detail with enhanced sharpness and clarity. Improves sharpness by adding white lines and dots beside every disruption on a smooth surface.
  • Reduce noise: Enjoy sharper images without unwanted noise artifacts. It hides the distortion created by sharpening by adding a blur effect. It's the opposite of sharpening.
  • Highlights: Increases or decreases the brightness of the bright parts of the video. It only effects colors that are in the top part of the color spectrum, like light sources or reflections.
  • Midtones: Increases or decreases the brightness of colors that are neither bright nor dark. It affects only colors in the middle section of the brightness spectrum.
  • Shadows: See more in shadows and prevent highlights from being blown out. Increases or decreases the brightness of the darkest parts of the video. As the name suggest, it affects shadows, making them darker or brighter.
  • Saturation: Adjusting brightness levels may make the video look washed out or make the colors too strong. Using this filter, you can adjust the saturation of the colors.
  • Other video quality extensions
  • Dark Mode extensions

The above-mentioned extensions use the same CSS filters to add effects or styling to the page and videos. The effects cannot stack up. One extension will work, while the other one will not!

Websites with issues

The website animekai.to doesn't actually reload the page when a video is selected. This doesn't allow the extension to find the video, since it was generated after all the code has already run. Once you select the video, just reload the page or click on the extension icon, and the filters will be applied to the video
